Morgan's Grove Park Mural

Date

July 2025

Dimensions

14’ x 20’ x 0"

Medium

Exterior Acrylic Latex Paint

For this mural, we worked alongside one other painter to create a composition adjacent to a children’s park. The client desired anthropomorphic animals, citing autumnal stories such as Over the Garden Wall and the works of Jan Brett as a source of inspiration. We chose to reference recognizable aspects of Shepherdstown, including native species such as raccoons, rabbits, a toad, a blue heron, mice, and a fox enjoying the forest. We used the Shenandoah River to create gentle movement and a subdued, warm palette to create a peaceful, light atmosphere. We depicted Appalachian music, kite flying, picnics, a Maypole dance, and kayaking to reference memorable aspects of childhood. We used high levels of contrast and linework to define the subject matter on the heavily textured wall.
